7 Secrets of Designing Learning.

We joke of course, as none of this is a real surprise, but it does make up some of the secret sauce we use at Learning & Design to create some truly amazing learning and social content.

We’re going to share 7 secret (ish) things we consider when designing content for either our clients learning requirements or for social media content design.

We always remember the magic of storytelling

Human beings are naturally drawn to stories, and incorporating a compelling storyline can transform dry facts into engaging, memorable lessons. Whether it’s a case study, a relatable scenario, or a character-driven plot, storytelling makes learning more relatable and enjoyable.

We get chunky
We break down difficult content into bite-sized chunks. The brain processes information more efficiently when it’s presented in manageable segments. We use headings, bullet points, and visuals to create a structured flow that aids comprehension. This trick enhances retention and prevents cognitive overload.

We aim for interaction
We always integrate interactive elements to foster engagement into every piece of training. Quizzes, polls, drag-and-drop activities, and clickable elements turn passive learners into active participants. Interactive content not only sustains interest but also provides valuable feedback, reinforcing the learning experience.

We always make it look good
By investing in visually appealing design we capture our audiences. When we use that perfectly crafted colour palette, engaging graphics and mix it up with user-friendly layouts we know what we are doing. Visual elements should complement the content, not overwhelm it. A well-designed module enhances the overall user experience and encourages learners to stay immersed in the material.

We like to play games

If you know us you already know we love gamification. By incorporating these elements into learning we tap into the very core of humans, We like to play, and we like to have fun, and we make our content enjoyable. We use leaderboards, badges, and rewards to help create a sense of achievement, motivating learners to progress. Gamified learning experiences tap into our intrinsic desire for competition and accomplishment, making the educational journey more entertaining.

We tailor it to the client

We always make sure that we tailor our creations with the unique client in mind. This means gentle nods to your values, behaviours, missions & visions which make the learner know why they are doing something and it most of all feels familial.

We get all multimodal about it
We know we can appeal to diverse learning styles with a multimodal approach. Combining text with visuals, audio, and video elements to cater to auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners. A variety of formats keeps the content dynamic and accommodates the preferences of a broader audience.

So, did you learn anything new?
Maybe not, but we cannot give away everything now can we? Our special design trick comes from the way we work with out clients and the years of experiences across various industries. And that cannot be replicated.
