Learning to love learning

We get it. Sometimes learning can feel like a bit of a drag.

At Learning & Design we work hard to make our content fit for your business and the people enjoying it, but if you’re not using us yet, then here’s ten tips on us to help you begin to learn to love learning:

Find your passion: Who cares about something they don’t care about? No-one! Do some digging and discover subjects or topics that genuinely interest you. When you study something you are passionate about, learning becomes enjoyable and rewarding.

Get some goals: If you set yourself some clear goals for your learning journey it helps to keep you on track and gives you focus. Whether it’s about mastering a new skill or understanding a specific concept, having learning goals gives you a sense of purpose and accomplishment when you can finally say DONE!

Check the relevance: It’s important to make sure that you can relate what you’re learning to real-life situations or personal experiences. Understanding the practical applications and relevance of the knowledge can make it more engaging, enjoyable and so much easier to apply!

Become a Curious Jez: (George was taken) Curiosity is a superpower and if you can learn to approach learning with this mindset it changes the whole experience. Ask brilliant questions, seek complicated answers, and enjoy exploring different perspectives. Curiosity keeps your brain interested and keeps your learning journey exciting.

Get experimental!: Explore the various learning techniques and find what works best for you. Get to grips with visual aids, or hands-on activities, a group discussions, or embrace the millions of online resources to make the learning process more personal to you.

Break it down: Sometimes, complex subjects can be overwhelming. Break down the material into smaller, manageable chunks. Yep, we mean Bite-Size it. We talk about that in another blog on this page too. By taking it one small, bitesized step at a time, you can maintain a sense of progress and prevent information overload and it’s so easy to dip back into.

Don’t be a learning loner: Engage in discussions, study groups, or online communities related to your area of interest. Interacting and learning with like-minded individuals can provide you with extra support, motivation, and opportunities for collaborative learning. You learn so much from others learning too.

Celebrate celebrate celebrate: Recognise and celebrate your learning achievements along the way. Reward yourself with a treat when you reach milestones or make some significant progress. Celebrating your successes reinforces a positive mindset towards learning. Too many people wait until the end of the process…where’s the fun in that?

Explore different resources: Don’t limit yourself to a single source of information. It’s too easy now to ask Alexa, or Google your way to understanding something. Explore books (how retro of us), podcasts, documentaries, videos on YouTube or TikTok, online courses, or interactive learning platforms. Diverse resources can add variety and broaden your experiences.

Have fun!: Try to incorporate elements of fun and creativity into your learning process. Use mnemonics, create visual representations, sketch, doodle, voice-note, build a Pinterest board or even turn your learning into a game and track progress and of course, earn points..and we all know what points turn into don’t we?…see Point 8!

Remember, everyone has their unique learning style, there is no right or wrong, just different, and unique.

So, next time, before you start learning something new, think about these tips so you too can love your learning. ❤️
